Bitaco Tea – Colombia

Bitaco® Tea is an organic, high grown tea located on the western range of the Andes Mountains, in the village of Bitaco, La Cumbre, Colombia. It is a strategic area located between 1800 and 2050 meters above sea level for the production of a specialty, mountain tea.

Organic production and sustainability is assured within NOP (USDA) and EOS regulations, as well as UTZ certification, to provide clean, pure, and natural teas with full traceability, supported by social and environmental accountability.

With more than a 100 hectares of land, and surrounded by the Bitaco Regional Forest Reserve, these sustainability standards include a huge commitment for water and biodiversity conservation, with a focus on preserving the Andean fog forest ecosystem. Their garden is a biological corridor allowing the conservation of spring waters, along with the ecosystems of 256 species of birds, 28 of amphibians, 23 of reptiles and 772 of flora.

Community development is also fostered through the Agricola Himalaya Foundation with programs focusing on education, especially for children in the region. That also includes improvement of infrastructure, recreation, culture and technology actions.

We are pleased to be able to offer a selection of their teas and you can find them here.
